Experiencing the real victory (2)

(Continued)

‘Then Pharaoh summoned Moses and said, "Go, worship the LORD. Even your women and children may go with you; only leave your flocks and herds behind."
But Moses said, "You must allow us to have sacrifices and burnt offerings to present to the LORD our God. Our livestock too must go with us; not a hoof is to be left behind. We have to use some of them in worshiping the LORD our God, and until we get there we will not know what we are to use to worship the LORD." ’ (Exodus10:24-26)

2. To serve God with all our heart and mind
Israel is a nation which has experienced numerous sufferings. The Lord let them suffer in Egypt for 400 years, which is not a short period of time. However, when the time had come, the Lord did things to save His people. He sent Moses to perform miracles before Pharaoh and swept the place with ten plagues before Pharaoh allowed the Israelites to go to serve their Lord, Jehovah. In the beginning, he still asked them to leave their livestock in Egypt, but Moses rejected straight away. When Moses insisted that the entire house of Israel, including all their property and resources, had to serve Jehovah, God further did a miracle for them. They could pass through the Red Sea successfully. This has enlightened me tremendously. We have to serve our God all our heart and with all our soul and with all our mind and with all our strength. Our family and property are things that God has entrusted to us for management. All have to be returned to Him someday.

Egypt stands for the world while Pharaoh stands for the King of the world. If we are not vigilant, do not always come before God and renew our strength in His presence, then we cannot overcome the king of the world. It always tempts us within in order to rule over God’s people. The king of the world does not let us serve God together with our whole family with all our heart and all our mind. We will be made aberrant from God through the weaknesses in our life, namely “the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does”. We will have already served ourselves and the world before we know it.

Sufferings make us return to God. In the treatment days of my cancer, I have understood God’s will. Therefore, I examined myself thoroughly before God and drove away all the things that ruled over my life. I let Jesus Christ be King of my heart. I have also determined to offer everything that I have all over again to God. I pray fervently to God that my whole family can serve Him and our lives will not be bound by the king of the world. I believe that we will have victory, like Moses and God will have peace for us. “The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you.” (Romans 16:20)
